I started making this after Cthulhu-boy made his Pteranadon for his lost world's set. Never decided on how to do the base. I was going to chop some bristles off a brush and make long grass. Thoughts?

Tall grass is always good. I also LOVE model railroad terrain.
Looks GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Is it a mod or a custom sculpt?

It was my first complete sculpt using only green stuff and a wire armature. The only thing I had done entirely from scratch before this was Audry II. She was Milliput and not wired (I was still learning). Heaven forbid I drop that one!
I might toy about with a brush then and see what I can do.

I looks awesome! Are you going to try to hide the pole with paint brush bristles?

Take a look in the All Hallows set Brother Zilla, at the Giant Slug. You will see the long grass I made from brush bristles. I am unsure about doing that here or making some trees or something.

Very nice sculpt, it has a vintage look to it as well. The tall grass will look good but if you want to give the illusion of him being high on the air, you vould make some pointy rocks on his base. They could double as regular rocks or mountain/canyon tips.

I hadn't thought about rocks before, that would actually solve my problem and give the height I need. Thanks Darkones.

You could also make the pole into a palm tree maybe?

My daughter loves it too! Her fave of the ancient reptiles (she also said "Awww! He's Cute!) Please don't shoot her.

I'm sure she would think otherwise if she had one in her back yard.

Yeah, I'm sure! Last thing you need a pteranadon pooping all over the place, eating all the neighbor's dogs and cats.

Perhaps there would be some benefits, security? Rodent removal? I wouldn't bind a pet pteranadon actually.

I wouldn't either, but perhaps a pterodactyl would work better.

Or a dog.....DNA for these things is a cow to get hold of!
Back on topic, I have fake trees for the base. Thet should add the feeling of height to the sculpt.

I will perhaps try a scale down of my commission. Not sure it it'll be too much on a single base though.

It really is! I didn't bother. Then again, I didn't use a flight stand, just a clear post.
