I'm going through my box, realizing that very few monsters have water movement. I look at the maps, and realize there is very little if any water terrain. As somebody who has a deathly fear of open water and underwater creatures, this makes me very sad.
Instead of whining, I'm doing something about it. A little sneak peak if it were, at the Depths expansion I plan on turning out, 30 figure set with two new maps to give water monsters a reason to exist beyond a holdover trait from previous clix and a puddle in the Crystal Lake map. As a preview, here is the first of those maps: Sunny Shoal!
Turn sun bathing into blood bathing at Sunny Shoal! A horror location made iconic by Jaws, swimmers here will learn that danger rises from the brine!
Beaches are long. So it makes sense that Sunny Shoal would be a huge horizontal map, with lots of space to the left or right but no room to run up or down. It's a victim sandwich!
Monsters with water movement have the easy lane through, and can snatch up victims without having to clamber through beach umbrellas or tangle with monsters doing so. They also have an easier time escaping combat, finally using that fin to dive into the brine and leave those land lubbers behind.
After the umbrellas is a big patch of open sand and a Life Guard cabin, big burly monsters will want to push the fight out here, preferably backed up by blockers in the umbrellas and the ocean to corral enemies into that cabin and beat the tar out of them, but that's one of many strategies in Horrorclix's first (that I know of) beach map!
