Been toying with the idea of making an original horror based tabletop wargame. Seeing that a brand new sports game just hit the local store. I'd figure I'd try to at least get some rules started. Get at least a free rulebook on Google's thing for all to use. Use our Clix as starter factions then try to come up with original work, and franchise stuff. Clix for proxies of course. Some points I have in mind.
1. Try a new dice type. I was thinking about d12s for more rolling and to shake things up.
2. Put more emphasis on blood and/or gore, maybe as additional dice or price to play a plot twist or plot card.
3. Add different effects for terror, not just a defense penalty. Like using terror to force a victim away from an enemy monster.
4. More terrain interaction. Like forcing a monster or victim into an open grave and burying it. Gravestones that cause terror checks for victims. Shoving a victim into Freddy's furnace to cause a terror check for near by vampires.
5. Film conclusion aka victory condition. As an option instead of the classic last monster standing. Experiment with winning a game with minimum engagements, creating the biggest Horde or pack, or finding a relic.
6. Decreasing stat lines. Since we all know that not everything is instant kill, have stats that decrease for monsters who can take multiple hits.
7. Monster weakness. Toy around with not only damage types, but auto damage, damage bonus, or terror checks. And differentiate if it is damage, blood/gore, or terror. Frankenstein's Monster for example would be weakness fire (Terror).
8. Bring back some monster types that were underutilized or have no category. Sometimes a broad term would work as a subtype, but not a faction.
9. Editing cards. Card types that helps certain factions like Slashers having relocation edits as long as a victim does not have line of sight.
10. New abilities. Use as much of the base Horrorclix abilities as a guide line, then create our own when we have a good idea. Like some zombies can create another Zombie after killing a victim.
What do you guys think?
